Active Equity

Equity is an active process we continuously improve. We commit to

• Creating a space that is welcoming to people of all backgrounds and experiences, especially low income, queer, Native and people of color.

• Decision-making that is crowdsourced from the community, especially when it comes to the future of this land.

• Maintaining free and open access to the space.

Transformation

Outcomes are not fixed or inevitable for our community. We commit to

• Forging transformational relationships amongst community members, especially the young, elders, marginalized, or under-represented where access to new communities have the greatest impact.

• Transforming our relationship to our food system and the foods we eat.

• Creating avenues to transform outcomes related to health, wellness, and our connection to the land and our local communities.

• Recognizing how access to food contributes to chronic disease and mental health issues and building programs to address.

Regeneration

We will use our joint future to heal past wrongs. We commit to

• Using our spaces to heal relationships between community members and the non-human world.

• Uplifting the past, present, and future of Indigenous communities of Oakland and the wider Bay Area.

• Constantly thinking about ways to cultivate new soil for our plants, community members, and programs

• Participating actively in new reparation, rematriation, and similar programs as they are born and mature.
